LETTER FROM THE EDITOR
I grew up loving to dress up—escaping into my mother's closet to emerge a different, yet somehow authentic, version of my self. Each new outfit was a world to be explored—and shared.
As I ventured into my early 20s, I stopped playing dress up, bound by the uniforms of responsibility, expectations, and judgement.
A little over a year ago, I got tired of these, well, tired outfits. My mother (bless her heart) could tell I was tired, too. So to cheer me up, she gifted me her closet.
I stomped around my childhood home in her vintage heels, colorful cashmere and tailored suits from her days as a civil rights attorney. A Haitian immigrant practicing law in the 90s, her sharp styling was a sign to the world that she was not to be played with.
It had me thinking about how fashion is a force to be wielded with intention, integrity, and wild imagination.
And with that, Amoe's Armoire was born.
